What is the GMGSF College Scholarship Program?
Through the journeys of GMG summer camps and workshops alumni, we have witnessed the gaps that exist in the college space - there's a lack of community, guidance and funding for degrees that would lead to careers in games.
The GMGSF College Scholarship is a 4 year program designed to offer financial support, paired with mentorship, internship and job placement support to women and nb people aiming to join the games industry.
Who is eligible to apply for the GMGSF College Scholarship?
Based in US only
Identify as a woman or non-binary person
Graduating High School before Fall 2026 or currently enrolled in community college and planning to transfer to a 4-year accredited institution for Fall 2026
Accepted to an undergraduate program at a community college, an accredited four year college or university for Fall 2026
Interest in pursuing a degree in field related to video game development
In need of financial assistance to attend college:

Do I have to fill out the FAFSA to be eligible for the GMGSF scholarship?
Yes! We require all applicants fill out the FAFSA in order to submit your FAFSA Student Aid Report as a part of your scholarship application.
Are students attending technical/vocational school eligible for the scholarship?
Unfortunately, the scholarship is only eligible for students who will be starting at an accredited 4-year college or university in Fall 2026.
I am currently a college student enrolled in a 4-year college. Am I eligible for the scholarship?
The scholarship is open to U.S.-based graduating high school seniors accepted to a community college or an accredited college or university in the U.S. It also applies to current community college students planning to transfer at an accredited college or university in the U.S. for Fall 2026.
What is the deadline to apply for the 2026 scholarship?
The deadline to apply is May 1st at 11:59pm ET.
What college majors are related to video game development?
There are many college majors related to video game development such as Animation, Interactive Media Design, Game Art, Game Design, Sound Production, Computer Engineering, Digital Arts, Graphic Design, Computer Science, Software Engineering and Development, etc. If you have any questions about whether your major is related to video game development, please feel free to contact us at programs@gmgsf.org.
What if I change my major to a field unrelated to video game development?
If your major changes to something unrelated to video game development, you will be ineligible to receive the GMGSF scholarship for subsequent years.
When will winners of the scholarship be announced?
Scholarship recipients will be notified in July 2026 and announced thereafter.
How will I receive my tuition scholarship funds?
The awarded scholarship will be paid directly to the college you are attending. There is no need to worry about coordinating the transfer of funds!
If awarded the scholarship, will I have to participate in the additional support offered?
Yes, we require all students receiving the GMGSF scholarship to participate in our mentorship, internship, and career readiness programs. These programs offer enrichment opportunities in assisting students as they embark on their career journey.
How can I renew my scholarship in Year 2, 3, and 4 of college?
Scholarship recipients will need to submit a transcript and proof of continued enrollment & progress in subsequent years in Spring of each year, as well as continue to participate in mentorship and career readiness program offered as part of the College Scholarship Package. GMGSF will facilitate this process.
